Christmas Morning

Of course this morning was the one morning that Hudson decided to sleep in. We had to wake him up at 7:30. He was very excited to see everything that Santa left. My parents and brother came down for the weekend. Irene and Nana came over to open presents and have breakfast. We had a fun time. Finley had a great time sitting in the basket playing with her new toys!

Finley's First Food

Today was the day that Finley started solids. She is growing up too quickly. She wasn't so sure about the solids. I remember Hudson being the same way. Their tongue doesn't know what to do with it. She will get it though.

Finleys New Chew Toy

Finley realized tonight in the bath that she can get her feet in her mouth. She was so proud of herself and eventually tried getting both of them in her mouth at once. I guess she can't lose them!!

Tree Decorating

After we finished outside we headed inside to decorate our tree. Hudson wanted to help with the lights and put the ornaments on the tree. For some reason Hudson does not like crabs. We put a crab ornament on the tree and he didn't go anywhere near it. Now he says the crab is his friend and he kisses the crab. He also decided that he wanted to play with all the ornaments as they were going onto the tree. We had a great time decorating with the fire going and drinking our hot apple cider.

Christmas Lights

This afternoon we decided to hang the Chrismtas lights on the house. Hudson was so excited and wanted to help. All he wanted to do was play on the ladder. Finley sat in her chair and watched everything. Thanks Daddy for making our house look pretty!!!

Christmas Tree

This afternoon we decided to go get our Christmas tree. This year Irene and Nana came with us. It actually turned out to be a quick trip because we found the tree right away. Hudson had fun running through all the trees once he got over his shyness. Story on this tree to follow :)

Making Tamales

Today was a big day. We started around 9:30 am making tamales. This year it was just us and Nana. We made chicken, pork and bean ones for Hudson. It was a lot of fun learning how to make them. They do take forever though. I think the last batch came out at around 9pm. The kids sat at the dining table watching while we spread the massa onto the corn husks. Hudson got a little bored watching :)

Hudson's New Horse

For Thanksgiving, the stables where my parents live had bouncy horse races for the kids. We went down to go watch but Hudson did not want to participate. They ended up giving Hudson the bouncy horse anyways. Now we can't keep him off it. He thinks it is so much fun bouncing around the house. He has races!

Finley's New Seats

This morning we brought out the Bumbo and the activity center for Finley to play in. She loved them both. When I put her in the Bumbo, Hudson asked if he could sit next to her so I could take pictures of them. He is so cute with her. He always wants to be near her.

Today is Nana's birthday. We were still up in Carmel so we weren't able to spend the day with her. Hudson was excited to call her and sing her Happy Birthday though. We hoped that she had a great day and looked forward to seeing her when we got back!!! Hudson gave a sad look to the camera when he found out he wasn't going to be able to give Nana a hug and kiss for her birthday ;)

Fire Truck

While we were having dinner the fireman came into the restaurant to eat. Of course Grandpa Matt knows them all so he asked if Hudson could go sit in the fire truck. He was so excited but nervous at the same time. Once he got in the truck he would not let go of Grandpa Matt. It is funny to see how shy and cautious he is in some circumstances.

We all went to dinner with all of my Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and Grandparents from my Dads side tonight. It was great to see everyone. It was the first time that everyone got to meet Finley. We wish we live closer to see everyone more often!!!

Uncle J's House

Today we drove up to Palo Alto to see Grandpa Matt for Thanksgiving. We got up there early so we went to go see Uncle Jasons new apartment. Hudson had a good time exploring and it was really nice to see where Jason lives. After Grandpa Matt got off work he came over to hang out before we went to dinner with all of his family.

Today we hung out with my family. This year Uncle Jason, Uncle Robby, Aunt Cammy and Aunt Gabi came to Thanksgiving. We spent all day cooking and spending time together. We had a great dinner. We are so thankful to have such great families and friends!!!!!

Hudson wanted to go to the barn to look at the horses this morning. He had lots of fun feeding carrots to them. I was suprised that he wasn't scared of them. They even tried to give him kisses!! I had to take a picture of Finley because she fell asleep hiding in her jacket.

We are up in Carmel with Grandma Sharon and Grandpa Rob for Thanksgiving. Today we went down to this really neat kids park in Monterey. Hudson had a blast on the train and all the different types of slides. Of course my camera died so I have no pictures of it. This afternoon we went for a walk into the woods. It was a bit chilly but still a nice day.

We got a surprise visit from Uncle Robby today for dinner. He was down visiting his girlfriend who goes to USC. He got to meet Finley for the first time who was having a hard time because she had gotten 2 shots that day. Hudson had a great time wrestling with him. He even made Robby wear the Shark hat!!

This afternoon Finley took a nap in her big crib. She started to cry and I was in my office. All of a sudden on the monitor I hear Hudson go in and try and console her. I walk in there to find him climbing her crib wanting to get in. He is such a good big brother.

This year Hudson decided to be a Shark again. He was excited to be it so we didn't push getting another costume. Finley got a last minute shirt, tutu and headband. We didn't have anything for her and at the last minute I was feeling guilty. Before we went trick or treating we have some neightbors over for dinner. Here are the photos of the kids. Theo is about 6 months older then Hudson and Elise is 2 months older then Finley. Hudson lasted about 4 houses and then he wanted to come home and pass out candy. He loved seeing all the other costumes.

Today we carved our pumpkin for Halloween. Hudson was funny this year because he didn't want any of the carving tools to get dirty. He wanted to just sit and watch while Daddy did all the work. He did get to pick out the face that poor Daddy had to carve out. Lets just say it was not an easy one!!!

The other day I was at our friend Adrea's house helping her with her bathroom and she decided to take some pictures quickly of Finley. We had like 15 minutes before I had to go pick up Hudson from school. Her boys were too cute and wanted to be right there in the action. Here are some of the pictures. This afternoon we decided to pick the pumpkins that we grew in our backyard. Hudson wanted to cut them all off. He learned quickly that the stem had stickers on them. We were all very excited because from one vine we got tons of different colors. Here are some cute photos.

We went to the toy store today to buy a ferrari lego so Hudson and Daddy could race. Too bad they didn't have one but Hudson came home with a tanker truck. He was so excited because it is his first "big boy" lego. After his nap, Daddy and him got to put it together. He really wanted to just put the wheels on. He loved it.

4 Months Old

We can't believe Finley is 4 months today!!! She went to the doctors today and she weighed 12 lbs. 7.5 oz and was 23" long. She is getting big. She had to get a couple of shots and she wasn't too thrilled with that. I can't blame her.

Today the neighbor boys had school off for Columbus Day and decided to come up and play with Hudson. Hudson wasn't feeling so hot because he was starting to get a little cold. Today Jeff, Tami and the girls came over for dinner. The kids were having so much fun that they decided to all spend the night. The two older girls slept on Hudson's floor which could have been a disaster but everyone made it through the night. Hudson was so tired because he decided not to take a nap. Today Hudson started at Pacific Oaks. We have been talking about it for months and the day is finally here. He was so excited he had a hard time sleeping the night before. Today he just went for 45 minutes to meet a few friends and meet his new teacher Bianca. He went straight for the excavator and the dump truck. He played in the sand almost the whole time. I can't believe that we are celebrating our 9th anniversary. It seems like yesterday I married the man of my dreams. Dave sent me this beautiful flower arrangement and we went to a great dinner. We actually got to go alone with no kids because Finley had already fallen asleep. We had a relaxing evening!

Summer Days

This summer has been a lot of fun. Hudson loves swimming in the little pool in the front yard with the neighbor boys. They all have a blast. Today I didn't get a chance to put Hudson in his swim trunks and swim diaper. I had to take off his normal diaper because it was literally pulling his pants down. He didn't care at all that he had no diaper on except the fact that his pants kept falling down. Gotta love this picture!!!

Hudson's new favorite thing is to play tackle with Daddy. He runs to Daddy and knocks him over. He can play it for hours. That is the first thing he asks Daddy to do when he walks in the door from work. He gets very sad when Daddy has had enough. He is one tough boy!

This evening we had Dave's cousins wedding. It happened to be an outside ceremony and reception and it was the hottest day so far we have had this summer. When we arrived at the ceremony it was 103 still. I can't imagine standing up there in the heat. She still looked pretty though. I took a few pictures before we left. I forget how hard it is to take pictures when you are running after one munchkin and holding another. Hudson kept wanting to look at daddy when it was picture time. He is a goof ball! We wish them a happy life together.

Car Carrier

We have been doing the star system with Hudson at bedtime. He has had a hard time going to sleep by himself in his big boy bed after Finley came. Now if he goes to sleep by himself he gets stars and when he reaches a certain amount he gets a new toy. He has wanted a car carrier for some time but we could never find one. We went to Toys R Us today to get one and he was so excited. Look at his cheesy smile!

New Rug

We finally got a new rug for the kids play area. Hudson loves driving his trucks all around on it. He makes roads out of the circles. It is great to have it there because now Finley and I can play with Hudson on the floor. Hudson tells everyone it is his new rug.

Today we had a visit from a special friend of ours. My best friend from childhood came down to meet Finley and see all of us. We had a great time with her. It was way to short. We can't wait to see her and her twin sister again. We miss them!!!

I think Hudson was ready to come home and sleep in his own bed. We had a rough trip home because he was so tired and we got in really late. Finley was great the whole trip home. She sleeped in my arms from takeoff to landing. Hudson decided he wanted to stay awake till we got into the car. We are just glad to be home but had a great trip!!

Fountain

This is the second time we have ventured to the fountain. The first time Hudson was not so sure about it and would not get out of the stroller. This time started the same way but eventually he got out of the stroller to play with his truck in the water. Big step for him!!! The fountain can be a little scary because it is so tall and the faces change. It is a very cool place though. I have noticed that Hudson gets very shy in certain circumstances. I wonder where he gets that from!! Mama's boy.

Navy Pier

After we left the museum we went and got hot dogs and sat on the pier and ate. Hudson wanted to go see what the ferris wheel was but we didn't have time. Hudson did get to ride on the train before we left. He sat by himself and would look away as soon as the train came by. He did not want me to take his picture for some reason. After that we walked back along the lake. We had to go over a bridge and it just so happened that a big ship was coming up the river so we were stopped while they drew the draw bridge up. Hudson was in awe of how it worked. I think that was the highlight of the walk home. As you can see he fell asleep on the way back. Play hard, sleep hard...

Children's Museum

Today the kids and I walked down to Navy Pier and went to the Children's Museum. Hudson wasn't sure about it at first but then when he saw the tool section where they can build anything he was in heaven. We played there for a good two hours. He was playing with the other boys and they were all trying to build a house. They were having so much fun. He was very sad when it was time to leave.

Silver Bean

In Millenium Park they have this silver structure that you can walk through. After Hudson woke up from his nap we ventured over there. He thought it was so neat that we could see ourselves in it. He kept telling me he really liked the ball. He wanted to stay there for awhile and check out everyone else too.

We came in early today to take a nap. We walked around the park this morning while Dave did some work in the room. Hudson was not wanting to take a nap instead he wanted to play with his sister. He kept saying that she was getting bigger and she was going to play with him. He is a good big brother!

I can't believe that our little girl is two months old today. She really has been a joy to have in our lives. She is really a happy and easy baby so far. She loves to smile and is starting to babble back at you. She is a true blessing!!!

Today we hung out with Jeff and Tami. We had a great day walking around Michigan Ave. For lunch we went to Pizzeria Uno to try the deep dish pizza. It wasn't my favorite. I thought there was too much crust. We did have a great dinner at a steak house. Hudson and Finley were both great the entire day. Tami took some pictures so here they are...

This afternoon we decided to take a walk down Michigan Ave. We had a fun time. Finley got a bitty baby from the American girl doll store and Hudson got a lego. The lego store had this amazing display of the Chicago skyline made out of legos. I took a picture of one of the buildings. It was pretty crazy! It was a beautiful night to be out and about because the rain had stopped.

Aquarium

This morning we decided to walk to the aquarium. It was a beautiful walk along the lake front. The aquarium was nice but very crowded. The line to get in with a stroller was 45 minutes which was way shorter then the general admission line. Once we finally got in we had a good time. Hudson liked to see the beluga whales and the penguins. After the aquarium we headed back to the hotel for a nap. We made it back right in time before it poured rain. The rain didn't stay for very long.

Off to Chicago we go!

Today we are headed to Chicago for a short family vacation. Dave has a business meeting on Tuesday and Wednesday so the kids and I decided to go with him. We had a great time. The weather was perfect and Chicago is such a beautiful city. We could have stayed a lot longer because there is so much stuff to explore. Here are some photos of our first night. We got in really late so Hudson fell asleep in the taxi ride there. We made a bed on the floor for him. I found him under the bed at one point. He was so tired. Both the kids were great on the flight there.

6 Week Doctor Appointment

Today we had Finley's 6 week appointment. She weighed 8 lbs, 8 oz and was 21" long. She is growing great. Dr. Schlundt said she was a little piglet because she is growing so fast. She still is very small for her age though. She got 2 shots today and she was not happy at all. I felt so bad for her! I had to find a picture of her complaining!!

Today we ventured out of the house and went to the Fourth of July Parade in South Pasadena. Our friend Kristin was in the parade because she was being honored as the teacher of the year. She is an amazing Kindergarten teacher. I wished we lived in South Pasadena so our kids could have her! Hudson wasn't so sure about the parade at first. He sat in his stroller for most of it. Finley on the other hand loved it... She was asleep the whole time.

Since Finley decided to come early, we decided to have a BBQ for the Fourth of July and Mara's birthday. We had a great time. The kids had a blast in the front yard playing in the water while we all just hung out. We are so grateful for the amazing friends we have.

This morning the whole family was hanging out in bed. Finley was still asleep and Daddy and Hudson were wanting to wake her up. She wasn't having any part of it though. She is a great sleeper already. Thank you God for letting us get some sleep.

My poor little girl had to have a shot today. She went to her two week checkup and she passed with flying colors. She weighed 6 lbs, 7 oz and was 19 1/2" long. She is starting to look like a little baby now.

Today is Grandma Sharons birthday. We are so blessed to have you in our lives. Thank you for the visit last week. We miss you already. Hudson goes into Finley's room every morning to see if Grandma is still here. Hopefully we will see you soon. Hope you have a great day. Love you and miss you tons!!!

The Neighbor Kids

We are very lucky to have lots of kids in the neighborhood. A couple of doors down are some friends who have a boy and a girl also. Theo is 6 months older then Hudson and Elise is 2 months older then Finley. It is so much fun to have kids the same age!! They were over the today and I had to take some photos. Finley looks so tiny next to them. Trying to get them all to look at the camera was impossible.

Hudson loves lying next to Finley on the bed. All he wants to do is talk to her and kiss her. He is very genle which we love. Hopefully that doesn't change!!!

I can't believe that my little girl is a week and a half already. It has been a pretty easy transition so far with her and Hudson. He really seems to like his baby sister.

New Drill

Grandma Sharon and Grandpa Rob brought Hudson a new drill set when she came into town. He loves drilling the screws in and out. Mom and Dad especially love hearing the drill at 6 in the morning. Thanks Grandma and Grandpa for the noisy toy!!!

Hudson loves to lie next to his sister on the bed and play with her. He constantly wants to give her kisses and talk to her. He really is a great big brother.

Grandpa Matt got Hudson a Batman towel last Christmas. He seems to call it Fatman for some reason. Now his new favorite thing is to have daddy put the towel on and Hudson chases him around the house. They have so much fun together.

Ever since I have been home from the hospital, Hudson has been attached to me. He thinks that I am going to leave him again and he doesn't want that. He is still a total mommy's boy. He is now attached to his pacifiers again. Just when you think we are over one thing back it comes. He was trying to be funny with two in his mouth.

Visit from Grandma Sharon

Grandma Sharon came down a couple of days ago to see Finley. My mom wasn't able to be here when she was born because she had just flown to New York for a family wedding. Thanks Finley for coming early!!! We had a great time with her when she was here. Tonight we had dinner with Grandma Irene and Nana. We took some cute photos of all of them. Hudson asked Dave to put on the shark costume and he thought daddy was so funny.
